A few weeks ago we published an article that talked about the importance of keywords when it comes to From position your content in search engines. In this new article we want to go one step further and teach you six tools that will be very useful for managing your keywords and that can lead to a successful search and analysis of these.

Following the logic of the previous article, we will divide the utilities into three main categories, although some of them could fall into more than one: To study, to compare and to analyze.

Study keywords

This type of tools will help us to carry out a study of the keywords that will be useful for our digital marketing campaign. At this point we seek to find those keywords that help us reach our buyer persona , putting ourselves in their shoes, and in certain part, to make a cabal of the possible terms that it will use to find us in the digital world.

Some tools that you can use at this stage are:

Ubersuggest -> The Ubersuggest page has more than one tool that can be useful to us, but in this case we will specifically focus on its main functionality, enter keywords and see:

  • Search volume -> Search volume is the number of times that word has been searched in a month. It also shows a graph comparing searches on pc and mobile devices with said keyword.
  • The CPC -> Or the average cost per click that Google would pay for wanting to include ads in the search for that keyword. The higher the CPC, the higher the price.
  • Paid Difficulty-> It is the competition that has that keyword, on a scale of 0 to 100, in paid ads. Companies will pay Google and compete with other advertisers to have their content appear at the top of search engines for particular keywords.
  • Seo Difficulty -> With this term we talk about organic searches, that is, results that Google believes can satisfy the person you are looking for. They are the results that normally appear in the main search engines and that are not paid. As in the previous case, they range from 0 to 100, from less to more competition.
  • Related keywords and content ideas
  • Charts by age range

As a new functionality, it incorporates a domain viewer that will allow you to observe, among other things, what keywords it uses or analyze its web traffic.

Google Similar Pages -> It is an extension for Chrome that will suggest websites with themes and relevance similar to the one we are viewing. By clicking on the button of the extension, it will suggest 4 similar pages, which we can investigate not by keywords, but by content affinity. Of course, it only works for pages that are properly indexed and that have been running for some time.

Compare keywords

Investigating your competition is an important point. It is a good way to improve, optimize and promote your content more effectively and keeping in mind the main trends in search terms.

To do this you can use various utilities, such as:

Google Trends -> It is a tool that displays the most popular search terms. We can visualize the popularity of words, over time and geographically, and compare different keywords with each other. If the word has very few searches, Google Trend will not show you its results. You can also filter results by category and display topics and queries related to the searched word.

It will also be a good guide to help you in your local SEO and find relevant content and events.

Google Keyword Planner -> Although it is not a keyword planner as such, since it is included within the Google ad platform, its operation allows it to be used for these purposes without the need to generate ad campaigns or payments. It will allow you to do keyword searches focusing on those that may interest you for your product or website.

Analyze keywords

After all the hard work of studying and comparing, it is also very positive to see that the results that were being pursued are those that have been obtained and learn from all this.

Using the right tools, we can review and interpret that the results are what we are looking for. For this we can use:

SemRush -> Although the free version of this website gives an overview of the market, it can also be useful, although with certain limitations. It allows you to analyze your web domain, see which keywords are better or analyze your links. With the free version you can perform up to 10 searches a day, although you will only see the first positions.

Google Analytics-> Probably one of the most used tools, since it contains many utilities in terms of marketing. It allows you to obtain personalized reports with user metrics, demographic and geographic information, conversion and business metrics, etc. An essential tool, easy to use and complete.

We hope that these tools are very useful for you to start positioning your page in the main search engines. If you still have any questions related to the world of marketing, we remind you that we continue with our #askdigitalmakers, challenge, so challenge us to respond to your concerns.
