In the previous blog post we told you how to get the most out of Google Translate for your business, but today we want to give you two alternatives to Google's automatic translator so that your communications in other languages are much better.

Let's go there!

Deepl

In DigitalMakers we are always in constant movement, just like you.

And although we like a tool, we continue to investigate what others exist that can go better, or that can complement what we already have.

This is what happened to us with Deepl.

Deepl is a software for machine translation, very similar to Google Translate, and although you have not heard much about it yet, it has entered with great force.

Although Google Translate takes advantage of comfort and features(it has its app for tablets or mobile phones, its saved translation histories, and many other things that we told you in this blog post),Deepl compensates for the quality of their translations.

With DeepL you can translate up to 42 language combinations among which are Spanish, English, German, French, Italian, Polish or Dutch.

But not all language combinations are equally good. For example, the combinations of and towards English are the ones that get the best translations, which is not bad if we take into account that it is probably the language we need most in our work.

In addition, the biggest advantage Deepl has is that is integrated with Linguee, (discussed below), an online dictionary that has as a special feature that offers context of words /strong> so you can see if it is correct to use them in your sentence or not.

To demonstrate the potential of DeepL, the company conducted a test in which professional translators chose the best translation among 100 phrases translated by the translator of Facebook, Microsoft, Google and Deepl.

In the image you can see that Deepl exceeded the rest of the automatic translators in terms of quality.

Linguee

As we mentioned before, Linguee is another alternative to the automatic translators that you have to save from now in your browser.

Linguee could seem like a simple online dictionary, and then you will tell us why we are complicating your life with a dictionary if you need speed and quality ...

But it is that Linguee, unlike other online dictionaries, has an advantage, and is that of offering context for each word it gives us.

Why is the context useful?

Imagine that you have to write a formal email, but you are not sure if that expression that you just put in the mail is suitable for registration.

If you put it in the filter, the search engine will give you several results of web pages that use those terms, and when you see the rest of the sentences, you can check if it is suitable for your registration or not.

We encourage you to play a little with Linguee and look for different expressions to see if they are used in the sense that you want to use them or not.

Linguee can help you to polish a text that you may have translated with Google Translate, because perhaps when using Linguee you realize that there is a better alternative to that word that has used Google Translate without context.

And you, use other alternatives to Google Translate to streamline the translation process of your texts? We want to know your opinion!
