This Wednesday, August 23, 2017, we have moved DigitalMakers to Carrer Àlaba, 140, 5th 2nd. This new situation places us in Barcelona at 22 @, the district of innovation, knowledge and technology. But why at DigitalMakers have we carried out this move? Is it the fruit of caprice? Is this action due to some business strategy? How does this decision affect the service to our customers? And about the DigitalMakers business model?
Allow us to answer all of these questions below.
First of all, a little history. In September 2013, now just 4 years ago, we opened a web design agency in Carrer Taxdirt, number 6. To start as quickly as possible and minimize risks, we did it under a franchise model, that is, we bought the use of a particular existing brand. This was a new key step in the growth process of our small company EnginyTIC, S.L. founded in 2011.
But soon, in a few months, we realized that something was not working.
The customers came through the door with enthusiasm and asked us for their web needs, but after a few months or they decided to stop the service or, in the best case, they continued but they were not entirely satisfied.
When asking, for the reason of his dissatisfaction, there was a common trigger. They all agreed in a “This web is very good, I am very happy with your service, but I am NOT selling more”.
BOOM! Suddenly, we became aware that although those customers had entered the office requiring the technical development of a new corporate website or the technical development of a new online store, in reality they wanted to have a positive impact on their business.
That said, it may seem obvious, but for us, who mainly came from the technical world, it was like a jug of cold water, which temporarily left us in a state of confusion. We were at the end of 2014.
However, an idea was repeated over and over in our head, our customers were telling us that they were very happy with us, they liked our treatment, our proximity, the way we carried out the projects and in fact the test was that our growth in customer volume, mainly came from word of mouth.
This level of satisfaction of our customers, we loaded with a position of responsibility, we could not disappoint them, we had to transform, we had to pivot towards what the community of our customers required, impact on the business.
For this, the first step was to completely reconvert our agency model, we stopped being a web development agency, and we became an expert agency in digital business.
During 2015 and 2016, we were able to enter into a process of learning, of reconversion.
For this, we attacked from two sides, on the one hand we grew academically, forming one of the best business schools in the world, ESADE; on the other, in a collaborative way with our clients we were improving and testing our new approach.
All this, at the same time that our team grew and was enriched with new multidisciplinary professionals.
So, little by little, we created what is already DigitalMakers today, an agency specializing in digital business, which is based on the following pillars:

- We train our clients in the digital field, thus adding their knowledge of the business, we give them criteria to jointly make the best decisions.

- We start from a zero step. Understand the value that your company brings to society. We work on a business canvas (value proposal, target customer, relationship channels, etc.), linked to a map of horizons to 3 periods (where we are going).
- We speak mainly of service of continuous improvement not of projects with date of beginning and end.
- We no longer talk about websites, we talk about digital projects (social networks, mobile applications, mailings, seo, websites, content of values, etc.).
- To identify and know the clients, we put them at the center of the entire strategy (customer centric) working with tools such as empathy maps.
- In a complex environment, we guide our clients to avoid defocalization and to keep heading north.
- We work with love, we are proud of the result of our day to day, we pay attention to the details.
- In a dynamic and uncertain environment, we work with agile methodology (Scrum).
- We experience and improve continuously.
- We work to preach by example.
- We have a policy of knowledge sharing, we do not have anything left for us, what we know we share and we learn and consolidate. We create community.
- Everything ahead, much to improve.
